FASBMB Congresses are held triennially in African countries that are members of the Federation and have an outstanding record of hosting scientific events for the world community of biochemists and molecular biologists. The FASBMB Congresses provide updates at the cutting edge of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Readmore Congress Guidelines Application FormIUBMB-FEBS-FASBMB PROBio-Africa (‘Promoting Research Opportunities for Biochemists in Africa’) is a new joint venture between FEBS, the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and the Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB). PROBio-Africa Fellowships, funded jointly by FEBS and IUBMB, enable PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from Africa to spend up to six months in the laboratory of a scientist in a FEBS country, by providing funds to cover travel and living expenses for the research visit. The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) in partnership with the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and the Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB) has organized a series of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Webinars.
The webinars will be held on a monthly basis and will provide a platform for African researchers working in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to share their research and learn more about the latest trends and developments happening in this field.
The keynote speaker for the first webinar is Professor Dario Alessi, he will be presenting on Disease Signal Transduction Pathways.
The UMAPS Program brings early career faculty from African universities to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Scholars are paired with a faculty collaborator and have full access to the University's resources. Faculty members from universities in Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Uganda can apply for the programme.

The SDG Challenge invites research teams to develop innovative solutions relating to challenges associated with climate, biodiversity and the environment. Funding is available for collaborative research teams based in Ireland and Irish Aid partner countries (South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi, Uganda, Vietnam, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and Sierra Leone). Teams will receive up to €300 thousand to develop their idea. Teams must include expertise in the STEM research area underpinning the proposed solution. The application deadline is 22 September 2022.
