Fixed-term Appointment

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the DSI/NWU Preclinical Drug Development Platform (PCDDP), North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa. The PCDDP is a national facility that contributes to building a vibrantpharmaceutical industry in the country by functioning as a national preclinical testing platform for qualitative and quantitative preclinical studies for research institutions and companies.

The fellow will be involved in Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacogenomics research. The fellowship will be awarded for an initial period of one year, renewable for a second and third year, subject to satisfactory progress.

Responsibilities

  • Publish and present research
  • Collaborate with other researchers working in the team and stimulate new and original ideas
  • Co-supervision of postgraduate students
  • Contribute towards funding applications

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Life Sciences field obtained within the past five years
  • At least two publications in the research field international peer reviewed journals

  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo DMPK models
  • Enzymology and molecular biology expertise
  • The ability to function independently and as part of a team
  • Good planning and forethought
  • Analytical thinking and data interpretation
  • Interpersonal relations
